Northwest Brampton Urban Expansion
In 1998, G & L was retained by the Northwest Brampton Landowners Group as project managers and land use planners to spearhead an expansion to the City of Brampton and Region of Peel urban boundaries. The future development lands are approximately 2,400 hectares in size and are generally bounded by the Credit River to the South, Mayfield Road to the North, Winston Churchill Boulevard to the West and Creditview Road to the East. In December 2006, the Ontario Municipal Board ruled in favour of the urban boundary expansion. G & L, City and Regional planners successfully demonstrated that the amendments represent good planning and that the conversion of lands within Northwest Brampton to urban uses is necessary if Peel is to accommodate the 1.65 million expected to settle there by 2031. G & L still plays an integral role in the ongoing Northwest Brampton land use planning process. As studies to finalize the development limits are nearing completion, G & L will provide input on behalf of the Northwest Brampton landowners in the City's Secondary Plan process, as well as develop Block Plans for the Northwest Brampton Planning Area.
